Mandatory Continuing Education
Continuing education to reinforce skills
Continuing education activities are designed to help members acquire, maintain, improve, expand and upgrade their professional knowledge and skills related to the practice of their profession.
All chiropractors must complete a mandatory continuing education program related to the practice of their profession of at least 30 hours, within a two-year period.
The education activities can cover any of the following subjects:
- Neuromusculoskeletal system and related conditions
- Clinical and diagnostic science (e.g., clinical, neurological, orthopaedic and chiropractic assessment)
- Diagnostic imaging
- Chiropractic techniques
- Record keeping and professional ethics
- Interdisciplinary health approach
In the past few years, the Continuing Education Program has adopted an interdisciplinary approach, allowing chiropractors to gain a better understanding of the other health disciplines in which their colleagues practise in order to ensure their patients’ well-being, and allowing other professionals such as physicians, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists to better understand chiropractic.
This shift, which reflects Quebec’s new healthcare reality, has given rise to joint awareness-raising initiatives and the creation of multidisciplinary panels. During continuing education days and events, these panels get together to discuss each member’s role and analyze case studies.
